Mrs. Frances J. Wood, 90, died on January 29, 2012, at Homewood at Crumland Farms.
Born on January 12, 1922 in Shelby, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Vera Jolley. Frances attended Gardiner Webb College. She married the late Robert F. Wood, Sr. in 1943. They lived in College Park, Maryland before moving to Frederick in 2000. She was a substitute teacher and active with church, Couple's Club, and THE Navy LCI 481 Vets. She enjoyed gardening, visiting family and friends, and traveling.
Surviving are her son Robert F. Wood, Jr. and wife Sarah of Upper Hutt, New Zealand, daughter Julie Wood Merchant and husband Wesley of Frederick, and four grandchildren, James Robert Wood, Dillon Lee Wood, Alden Wood Merchant, and Elizabeth Anne Wood Merchant. She is also survived by sisters Martha Kirk, Alma Riley and husband Richard, and Suzanne Gibson and husband Darrell. Her brother, George Jolley preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10 am to 11 am in the chapel of Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, MD 21702. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 am with the Rev. Linda Warehime and the Rev. Esther Ziegler presiding. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Homewood of Crumland Farms at the address above.
