Frances Lee Ashbury Trout passed to eternal life peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in the hospice wing at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland. She was for 58 years a wife devoted to her husband Robert Eugene Trout.

Frances was born on August 26, 1940 in Petersburg, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Maurice Dunbar Ashbury and Frances Walker Ashbury of Frederick, Maryland. After moving from Virginia to Baltimore to Frederick, Frances graduated from Frederick High School in 1958 and studied at Madison College, working afterward in banking. She was a wife, mother, and business administrator for her husband’s automotive repair shop Trout’s Garage. She was a life-long Episcopalian and became a member of All Saints’ Parish in Frederick when her father was Rector. Her quick wit was surpassed only by her loving heart, and ability to talk with almost anyone.

Frances was predeceased by sons Robert Eugene Trout, Jr. and Robert Kenneth Trout, in-laws Austin Trout, Bernice Compher, Ernie Trout, brother Dunbar Ashbury and wife Barbara, and brothers-in-law Frank Lebherz and Bob Johnson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Susan Trout Bittle and husband Dan of Frederick, daughter Karen Trout Reed and husband Chuck of Chestertown, Maryland, son Ronald Lee Trout and wife Ann of Thurmont, Maryland, grandchildren Lexington T. Bittle and fiancé Kristen O’Connell of Frederick and Kelsie G. Bittle of Arlington, Virginia, brother John Ashbury and wife Gaile of Thurmont, sister Ann Lebherz of Frederick, sister-in-law Marjorie Johnson of New Market, and mother-in-law Mary Frances Trout of Frederick, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.

The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland. At 2:00 p.m. a Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel at the funeral home, followed by a reception. The burial service will be private.

The family extends gratitude and thanksgiving for the compassionate care administered by Dr. Hudhud and his staff and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Frederick County at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
