Frances Groshon Spielman, 75 of Thurmont passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD. Her legacy of unyielding love lives on in her husband of 32 years, Fred E. Spielman, Sr.; stepchildren Mike (Dora), Gene (Lisa) and Kim (Jeff); 3 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Frances is also survived by her loving sister Dolly Rau and nieces, Terri Gladhill and Lori Scarff. She extended her love to Bonnie Baker as her daughter. Frances will be missed by the Spielman family not only as a family member but as a friend.

Fran spent many years serving the public for the Marriott Corporation and the Cozy Motel. Her hospitality was always welcoming which resulted in numerous friends. She was a member of the Thurmont Church of the Brethren where she served as a deacon and her love of the Lord allowed her to serve the community. Her home was always open to family and friends. Fran loved music and dancing and has supported her husband and friends in their musical careers.

We will honor Fran's memory with a viewing at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, MD on Saturday, January 16 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm and Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Thurmont Church of the Brethren, 14 North Altamount Avenue, Thurmont, MD from 10-11 am with the funeral service at 11 am. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Patty Pollatos Fund, 11102 Eagletrace Drive, New Market, MD 21774.
