Mrs. Frances L. Smock, 89, of Frederick, died on Monday May 2, 2011, at Golden Living Nursing Home, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Joseph Smock who died in 1991.
Born on February 12, 1922 in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Gardie and Evelyn Price Watkins.
She enjoyed reading, crosswords and crafts. She was the former owner of Baskin Robbins Ice Cream in Wheaton and the Aspen Hill Books and Craft Store. She was also the former manager of the Essex Apartments in Washington D. C. and retired from Sears as a customer service representative.
Surviving are her children, Joseph W. Smock and wife Karen of Walkersville, MD, Jean Proctor and husband Robert of Biglerville, PA., and Carol McCampbell and husband Larry of Brandywine, MD. Brothers, Winston, Charles and Claude Watkins and sisters, Ann Floyd, Lill Simons and Irene Blunt. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Watkins and a sister, Dorothy Underwood.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am until time of memorial services at 11:30am on Friday May 6, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Interment will follow in Baltimore National Cemetery.
