Frances Rippeon

Mrs. Frances Harriet "Sis" Rippeon, 82, of Middletown died Monday, May 30, 2016 at Broadmore Senior Living in Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Howard Arthur "Pete" Rippeon, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2002.

Born on September 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Elizabeth Bruchey Himes.

In earlier years, she was employed at Price Electric in Frederick and Ingall's Lumber and Supply in Middletown. After retirement, she became a self-employed housekeeper for many families in the Frederick County area.

She enjoyed being outdoors caring for her yard and flowers, attending all of the local carnivals to listen to the music, and helping others in need.

She was known for her love of animals, especially the many dogs who were a part of her family over the years.

Surviving are three children, Carol Stely and husband, Edward, of Middletown, Denise Toms and husband, Rick, of Myersville, and Michael Rippeon of Martinsburg, WV; six grandchildren, Edward Stely, Kristi Stely, Pam Parks, Charles Toms, Jacqueline Rippeon, and Alex Rippeon; and 11 great-grandchildren, Travis and Jaelyn Stely, Brooke and Hailey Duffey, Dakota Zimmerman, Danielle, Alyssa, and AJ Parks, Katelyn and Madison Toms, and Jason Robinson.

Mrs. Rippeon was preceded in death by one brother, Charles W. Himes.

She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Betty Rippeon, and cousin, Greta Lambert.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday from 12 noon until 9 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 3 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carroll Doggett officiating.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Serving as pall bearers will be Eddie Stely, Travis Stely, Jay Parks, AJ Parks, Michael Rippeon, and Charlie Toms.
