Frances K. Rasberry, 96, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on March 15, 1915 in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late James Lyle and Pauline (Murphy) Kincaid.
Frances was a graduate from the Evanston High School in Iowa. In 1942, she relocated to Washington, DC where she worked as a Grade A Secretary for the Office of Court Administration. In 1945, Frances was transferred to work in the United States Embassy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she would meet her future husband who was working as a Secretary Attaché to the Ambassador to Brazil. As a couple, the Rasberry's were transferred to Geneva, Switzerland where their daughter was born in 1948. Within a few years, they were re-assigned to Paraguay, South America where they spent five years in continuing service until retirement. Frances went on to work with Cathy Gilmour Realty in Silver Spring, Maryland, and was also a 15 year employee with Maryland National Bank.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Patricia R. Smith of Boonsboro; one son, S. Michael Rasberry of Walkersville, Maryland; and six grandchildren, Kimberly D. Smith-King and husband Randy of Spring, Texas, Holly L. Smith-Demory and husband Aaron of Boonsboro, Kevin M. Britt and Kayla C. Britt, both of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Michelle Rasberry-Barndollar and Jennifer Rasberry-Mathis and husband Michael, all of Walkersville. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Amber and Paige Demory and Sara King.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachael McCall and Katharine Scowley.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the family home, 6127 Mary Ann Court in Boonsboro. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate.
