Floyd Stull

Mr. Floyd Howard Stull, 94, longtime Lewistown resident, died peacefully Monday, February 17, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Rhoda L. Stull.

Born September 15, 1919 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Orange Clayton and Mamie Ramsburg Stull.

Together with his wife, Floyd was owner/operator of Stull's Service Station in Lewistown for over 60 years. He was still an integral part of the business, checking on the daily operations of the shop, until his death. The family owned business is still operated by his sons, Ron and Steve.

He was a longtime member of Faith United Church of Christ in Charlesville. Floyd was a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau and the American Legion Post #168 in Thurmont.

He was a World War II veteran with the Army Air Corps and the Air Force Reserves, having served his country from 1942-46. He first served as a guard in the military and later as an aircraft mechanic in India. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Ribbon.

Floyd loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Vivian Wachter and husband, Larry, of Lewistown; Yvonne Bowers and husband, John, of Frederick; Ronald Stull and wife, Ruth, of Rocky Ridge; and Stephan Stull and wife, Jennifer, of Lewistown; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Huffer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Sherman Stull, Marie Altman, Lola Nusbaum, and Margaret Horton.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 East Main Street, Thurmont.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22 from Faith United Church of Christ, 9333 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. Officiating will be the Rev. Katherine Penick.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as pall bearers will be Ronald Stull, Jr., Kyle Stull, Aaron Stull, John Lann, John C. Bowers, and Theodore Bowers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or to Faith UCC at the above address.
