Flossie Layton

Flossie Layton, "Beanie", 73, of Frederick, passed from this life on Thursday, September 27 at her home.  She was the wife of the late James Layton, Jr. Born on February 15, 1945, in Rocky Mount, NC, she was the daughter of Harold Faulkner and Sarah (Hale) Faulkner Tressler.

Beanie was married to her husband on January 29, 1972.  They were married for 31 years until his passing in 2003.

She loved her pets, the wild birds and the beautiful sunflowers in summer.  Mrs. Layton enjoyed gardening with all her flowers.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She had just celebrated the return of her granddaughter Courtney from the U.S. Army.

Beanie also previously was a member and served as a first responder with the Lewistown Vol. Fire Company.

She is survived by children: Anthony Martin Smith of Green Valley, MD, Ernest Dale Stitely and wife Debbie of Harpers Ferry, WV and Lavana Lynn Meacham and husband Eric of Frederick, MD; grandchildren: Jodi Smith, Matthew Stitely, Courtney Putman, Shannon Stitely and Manda Meacham; a wonderful sister: LaRue Beckley and many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Layton will also be missed by her many special close friends.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Wyatt Smith.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. A celebration of Flossie's life journey will take place on Thursday, October 4th at 11:00am at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Mt. Prospect Church Cemetery in Lewistown.
