Mrs. Florence Means Martin, 86, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of the late Norman Martin.
Born January 8, 1927 in Villisca, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Esther Windom Means.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Weller United Methodist Church, where she was very active, and also a member of the Womens Society. She was a member of Thurmont Senior Citizens. Mrs. Martin loved crafting, cooking and for many years she was a Girl Scout Leader. Florence was a very loving mother and grandmother
She is survived by two daughters Eileen Emswiler and husband John of Sykesville and Debbie Mann and husband Tommy of Hagerstown, grandchildren Bill Martin, Dave and Dan Emswiler, Kim Swope and husband Ryan, Kristine Becker and husband Bill, great- grandchildren Devin, Saianne, Vincent, Emma, Tommy and Lily. She will also be remembered by her former daughters-in-law Darlene Martin Ward and Elaine Glynn Heinlein. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her son William Bruce Martin, grandchildren Donna Martin and Kevin Glynn, and her brothers Donald, Max and Leland Means.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, July 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Tuesday, July 9, at 10:00 am.
