Faye R. Greenawalt

Faye R. Greenawalt, age 82, of Middletown, MD, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 under the care of Frederick Hospice. Faye was born on July 31, 1940 in Middletown to the late Clarence and Miriam (Huffer) Rice. She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Greenawalt, of 62 years; her daughters, Teresa L. Rhodes, Tanya R. Miller (John Wells), and Robin M. Neary (John Neary); and her granddaughters, Kristin Smith (Matt Smith) and Lauren Neary. She is also survived by her sisters, Connie L. Kinna and Billie Sullivan; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elaine Adkins and Patricia Lewis.

Faye graduated in 1957 from Middletown High School. Faye worked at American Optical for 19 years and then also as a licensed Daycare Provider for over 25 years. Faye was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, where she taught Sunday school and also helped with the monthly senior lunches and apple butter making. She also volunteered, alongside her husband, Richard, at the Jefferson Ruritan for over 39 years, assisting with banquets, soup and sub sales, and the yearly Ruritan Carnival. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N Maple Avenue, Brunswick. The service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Neary, John Wells, Michael Kinna, David Huffer, Joshua Grossnickle and Peter Grossnickle.
