Fae Elaine Brown, 80, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home, in the early morning hours, of April 29, 2024.
Fae was born in Frederick, Maryland on July 23, 1943. She was the daughter of Charles Gladhill and Ellen Hartsock Gladhill. Fae married Ralph D. Brown, Jr. on December 31, 1985.
Her first job was in the Cheese Factory at the Frederick Towne Mall. Later she worked at Sagner’s Sewing Factory. She found her passion and her calling in the Real Estate and Property Management profession. She and Ralph spent many years working side by side selling Real Estate. She received numerous awards for service, dedication and outstanding professional standards. She held many offices with the Frederick County Association of REALTORS © over her 50 years in the profession.
Fae was very community-oriented and spent time helping local charities. A few of her favorites were the Jefferson Ruritan Club, Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and “TEAM HOPE.” Fae enjoyed gardening, shopping with her sister, fishing vacations in Chincoteague, cruising, playing cards, time spent at their “weekend getaway” at the Potomac Fish and Game Club and Boyd’s Bears. Fae was especially proficient at weaving baskets and became well known for her “Brownaberger” baskets.
Fae was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ellen Gladhill, her in-laws George and Helen Hawes and brother-in-law Wayne Hawes.
Fae is survived by two children; David Grossnickle (Rhonda) and Jamie Toms Wolfe (Keith) and three step children; Carol Custer (Tom); Cheryl Smith (Stephen) and Douglas Brown (Suzanne). Fae also leaves behind 10 cherished grandchildren and 10 beloved great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Gail Boggs (Tom), brothers Larry Gladhill (Lynda) and Terry Gladhill (Vicky), sister-in-law Sharon Oland (Terry), and brother-in-law Mark Hawes (Robin). Also left to mourn her loss are several nieces and nephews, as well as MANY good friends and devoted and loving caregivers.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Stauffer Funeral Home. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 with family receiving visitors from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 PM following visitation. Interment will be private.
