Evelyn V. Harbaugh

Mrs. Evelyn V. Harbaugh, 86 of Thurmont, MD., died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Alvie S. Harbaugh.

Born September 7, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Esther Shingledecker Webb.


Mrs. Harbaugh was a past member of the Weller United Methodist Church. She worked for over 20 years at the Rambler Motel. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three children Merle Butch Shorb of Westminister, R. J. Shorb and wife Betty of Thurmont, and Sharon Walker and husband Bill of Chester, VA. There are 5 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She will also be remembered by her good friends Emily and Fred Slovic, Wanda Myers and Mr. & Mrs. Calvin Burrier.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca Shorb and two sisters Thelma Miller and F. Grace Starner.

Services: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, Monday, October 13, from 9:00am until service time at 11:00am. Reverend Richard Broome will officiate.
Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.
