Mrs. Evelyn M. Shepley, 84 of Hagerstown, MD., went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 11, 2007 at her home. She was the wife of the late Martin W. Shepley.
Born August 25, 1922 in Frederick, MD., she was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Rosie Morningstar Kolb.
Mrs. Shepley was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica. In earlier years she worked at G & L Bakers, Jenkins Cannery in Thurmont, Robert Terry Sewing in Walkersville andl The Red Horse Motor Inn. After that she started babysitting and has taken care of many many children throughout the years. She enjoyed baking, canning and was known for her flower gardens. She was a member of the Frederick Womens Order of the Moose #347.
Two of her favorite sayings were If you see someone without a smile - give them yours and When you think of me smile.
She is survived by two children Hilda M. Hoffman and husband Earl Jim and Donald Lee Shepley and wife Shirley all of Waynesboro, PA, Many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister Pauline Toms of Frederick.
She will also be remembered by her special friends Mervin Delauter, Berkley and Jim Summerville, Carol Loveless, Gene and Dolly Beachy and numerour other friends.
She was preceded in death by a son William E. Shepley her sisters and brothers Rennie Burkett, Hazel Rice, Alta Shaw, Lena Lambert, Howard Kolb, Hilda Kolb, Virginia and Edward Kolb. She was loved and will be missed by many people.
The family wishes to thank the Washington County Hospice for their wonderful care of their mother.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12, and June 13 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services:
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10621 Old Frederick Road, Utica with Rev. William Boucher officiating.
Interment Utica Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Brown, Jared Brown, great grandsons, Upton Shepley, Lee Shepley, William Shepley, grandsons, Gene Beachy, Jack Brown and David Cannon.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Utica Lutheran Womens League, c/o Louise Ediger, 10521 Old Frederick Rd., Frederick, MD 21701 or to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, c/o Marine Corps Reserve, Frederick, MD 21701.
