Mrs. Evelyn "Lynn" C. Burdette, 89, formerly of Monrovia, MD passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick.  She was the wife of the late Kenneth Burdette.

Born on April 15, 1925 in Frostburg, MD she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Etta Johnson Clark.

Lynn was a graduate of Western Maryland College earning her degree in Education, where she met her husband Ken.  She then went on to be a substitute teacher and a Kindergarten teacher, but her life's work was raising her family.  Lynn was a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy and most recently Montgomery United Methodist Church, Damascus where she enjoyed singing in the choir.  She was also a charter member of the Mt. Airy Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Order of the Eastern Star, Ki Wives, American Legion, Damascus and the Frederick Co. and Mt. Airy Historical Societies.

She is survived by her four sons Peter Burdette and wife Joan of Ellicott City, MD, Michael Burdette and wife Patricia of Harbeson, DE, Steve Burdette and wife Scottie of New Market, MD,  and David Burdette and wife Barbara of  Florissant, CO.; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Helen LaPrade and husband Crozet and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her two daughters Linda and Susan and her brother Norman Clark.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM and Friday, June 27 from 10-11AM at  the Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kemptown Rd., Damascus, MD 20872, where a funeral service will begin at 11AM.   Pastor O.F. " Bud" Kibbe will officiate.

Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
