Evelyne Perry

November 21, 1939 — March 14, 2014

Mrs. Evelyne O. Perry, 74, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of 47 years to Ned Thomas Perry, Jr.

Born November 21, 1939 in Martinsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Will and Irene (Towler) Osborne.

Evelyne worked in the Food Service industry for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of New Bethel Church of Brethren in Chatham, VA.

A soft spoken, gentle woman, she loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and knitting. At the birth of each grandchild and great-grandchild, she made a special baby blanket for each new arrival.

Evelyne and Ned loved gardening and taking care of their flowers. Their daughter, Pam, referred to their flower garden as a "Zen Backyard," where one could find peace and relaxation.

In addition to her husband, Evelyne leaves to cherish in her memory, three daughters, Janet Kidwell and husband, Sherman Kidwell, Sr.; Cassandra Perry and fiancé, Chuck Holmes; and Pamela Gorres and husband, Ramon Gorres; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by 5 sisters, Brenda Brooks, Ruby Cravens, Relda Chaney Shelton, Gladys Osborne and Annie Donley; and 2 brothers, Roger and Emery Osborne.

She was predeceased by her son, Ned T. Perry, III.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, where a service celebrating her life will begin at 7 p.m.
