Evelyn Sandberg

Evelyn May Sandberg, formerly of Derwood, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2018 at Homewood at Crumland Farms.She now joins her husband of 46 years, Roy, as well as her siblings Ruth, Arvilla and Frank.

Born in Bismarck, North Dakota on March 15, 1931, she graduated from Abbott Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then met her future husband. They married in 1959, settled first in Michigan and then moved east to Maryland in 1971.She worked for many years at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, MD as a recovery room nurse. She was a nurse through to her soul. Her other passions included gardening, sewing, needlework, and playing the piano. She cared for Roy for several years prior to his death in 2005.

She is survived by her three children, Ellen Raabe (Hans) of New Market, MD, Jill Ward (David) of Mount Airy, MD, and Jay Sandberg (Gina) of Willow Street, PA.She was proud to be called Grandma by eight grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, on Saturday, September 15, 2018.Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00am, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 noon and a reception immediately following.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or The Alzheimer’s Association, 108 Byte Drive #103, Frederick, MD 21702.
