Evelyn Rakes

Mrs. Evelyn Mae Rakes, 96 of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Lorien in Taneytown, She was the wife of the late Cecil D. Rakes.
Born July 21, 1918 near Taneytown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Pittinger Miller.
In earlier years Mrs. Rakes was employed at Hartz Sewing Factory and retired in 1981 from Claire Frock. she was a member of the Thurmont Senior Citizens and the Ladies Union.
She is survived by her children Charles Beard and wife Evelyn, Gene Beard, Michael Rakes and wife Sue all of Thurmont, Joan Eline of Finksburg and Ann Smith and husband Charles of Keymar, Sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Herman Miller.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont Sunday, February 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where services will be held Monday, February 23, at 11:00 am with Rev. Coblentz officiating.
Interment Pipe Creek Brethren Church Cemetery.
