EVELYN ONDERDONK

Mrs. Evelyn B. Onderdonk, 92, of Frederick, Maryland, entered into eternal life Saturday, June 18, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was the wife of the late Fred “Dutch” Onderdonk, Jr.

Born September 1, 1923 in Danville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Rena Brady.

Evelyn served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While serving in the military Evelyn met “Dutch” and they were married on June 20, 1945. She was the most amazing Mom and the memories her children shared with her will forever be cherished. She will be remembered by her family for all her kind ways.  Evelyn never asked for anything but, found great joy in doing for others.  Some may have described Evelyn as someone who would “give you the shirt right off her back”.  She was very proud of having “such a wonderful family”. There wasn’t a soul that Evelyn wasn’t willing to help.  She loved animals and was a wonderful cook, mother and grandmother.  She will be profoundly missed by all of her family and those she touched throughout her life..

Evelyn will be missed by her four children of whom she loved dearly, Larry D. Onderdonk, Sr. of Martinsburg, WV, John J. Onderdonk, Sr. Eileen Gideon and husband Joe, and Janice Tobery and husband Norman all of Frederick.  Evelyn was known to her grandchildren as “Mommom” or “Mom B”.  She will be missed greatly by her grandchildren, Larry “David” Onderdonk, Jr., Catrina Hartman, Jennifer Tyeryar, John “Jaime” Onderdonk, Jr., Shannon Graff, Jordan Onderdonk, Rachel Onderdonk, Charity Poole, Joseph Giedon, III., Alley Gideon and Brittany Tobery and 14 great grandchildren .

The Family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Wednesday, June 22nd from 6-9 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, June 23rd at 1:00 p.m. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.  Contributions may be expressed to Uniting to Save Animals, P.
