Evelyn, 100, formerly of Jefferson MD went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, June 8, 2023 where she was a resident of Citizens Care and Rehab Center, Frederick MD. She was the wife to the love of her life the late George (Bud) William Morrison for over 53 years.
She was born November 15, 1922 in Jefferson MD to the late Luther Benjamin and Mary Eva Gross Ahalt and the daughter-in-law to George (Jim) Francis and Marchie McKinley Cordell Morrison. She was predeceased by a sister Hilda, brother and sister-in-law Amos and Helen Morrison Ahalt, and nephew Ben Ahalt and family, and great-grandson, George Charles Shafer.
She graduated from Middletown High School in 1940. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to bake, cook, sew, garden, sing, and in her early years play piano; and especially read her bible. As a young farm girl she loved horses and her dog and even drove a horse team and wagon in the fields. She had fond memories of being raised on the family dairy farm between Middletown and Jefferson. She was a caring, giving, kind and praying woman.
Evelyn, is survived by two daughters, Joann M. Guyton and husband Wilmer of Jefferson, and Joyce L. Hope and husband Stan of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Stacey Guyton, Dee (Brent) Shafer, Carena (Mike) French, Janell (Paul) Droneburg and Lance (Caitlin) Guyton. Also 13 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Duston, Wyatt, Evan and Kylie Kahler, Atley and Aubree Shafer, Peyton and Skylar French, Eli and Jollene Droneburg, Sophia and William Guyton. One nephew, Ronald Ahalt and numerous great nephews and nieces. Two special neighbors Jim and Linda Keller and Charles and Evelyn Summers, two special cousins Betty Armacost and Anna Fleming, one dear friend Nancy Zeim.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Frederick MD for over 60 years. In November her 100th Birthday was an ultimate celebration. She received a lot of cards from family, friends, and friends of friends. She would spend hours remembering the celebration. This gave her great happiness. She lived life to the fullest, treasuring every day.
The family appreciated the care that the doctors, nurses, and staff from Montevue Assistant Living, Citizens Care and Rehab Center, and Frederick Health Hospice. Also the staff at Stauffer Funeral Homes, Opossumtown Pike, Frederick MD.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 10-11am at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 6213 Picnic Woods Road, Jefferson MD (Rt 17 between Burkittsville and Middletown). A celebration of life will immediately follow at 11am by Pastor Tim May. Interment will be at St Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Main Street, Jefferson, MD.
