Evelyn Elaine Henderson

Evelyn “Elaine” Henderson, 82, of Burkittsville, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

Born on December 13, 1939, in Waterford, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Coates and Edna Louise (Jones) Coates.

She was a graduate of Douglass High School in Leesburg, VA, class of 1959.

Elaine spent over thirty years helping to shape young minds as a daycare teacher. She worked at the Learning Tree in Brunswick, Md. On her day out she could be found at her home church, Grace Community Church. The children and parents loved her.

She worked at The Learning Tree in Brunswick, MD, and Mom's Day Out located within her home church, Grace Community. Having noonday prayer, enjoying a cup of coffee or just being with family which bought her great joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Henderson, children; Kevin Henderson and Kimberly Marshall (Thomas), grandchildren; Kendra Henderson, Tyrelle Henderson, Oliver Kenny, Micaiah Kinny, Tyaunna Marshall, Taylor Marshall, and Michelle Sturgis, great-grandchildren LeVar Smallwood, Samara Campbell, Karter Culley, Khodi-AnnHenderson, Olivia Kinney, Kaleb, Donavan and DeSean Sturgis, Kyree and Korey Kulley, Jazzlynn, and Raylynn Kinney.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter; Pamela Kinney, siblings; Jamie Coates and Eva Lee Coates, and grandson Wendell Kinney, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Grace Community Church, 5102 Old National Pike in Frederick, MD.

A celebration of Evelyn's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Grace Community Church. Burial will follow services, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery 17523-17563 Harmony Church Road, Hamilton, VA 20158.
