Evelyn Flory

Evelyn Flory, 86, of Keedysville, MD, passed from this life on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.
Born on February 11, 1931, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Etta (Kline) Smith and one of 14 children.
In addition to raising a family and tending her 40-acre farm, Evelyn was a seamstress, floral arranger and manager of Semler’s Produce Stand. She was a 12-year survivor of breast cancer. Evelyn is remembered best in the things she took greatest joy in doing, spending time in her garden, pouring her heart into the delicious meals she prepared, and loving her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Drosdak and husband, Lee of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Alyssa Drosdak of Columbus, OH, Adam Drosdak of Frederick, MD and Jeffrey Flory II of Midland, PA; step-grandson, Christopher Devlin, of Waynesboro, PA; step-granddaughter, Erin (Devlin) Peterson, of Waynesboro, PA; three step-great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Madeline and Natalie Peterson, of Waynesboro, PA; sisters, Goldie Deatrich of Williamsport, MD, Jeannette Condon of Williamsport, MD and Bertha Smith of Hagerstown, MD; brother, Grayson Smith, of Hagerstown, MD, numerous nieces, nephews and friends at Tranquility of Fredericktowne Assisted Living.
Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Flory; brothers Truman, Richard, Glenn, Howard, Lee and William Smith; sisters Molly Bryan, Rachel Betts and Annabelle Smith.
Her family would like to thank Hospice of Frederick County, the rehabilitation team at Citizen’s Care and Rehabilitation Center of Frederick, the nursing staff of the emergency department, units 2C, 3B, 4A, the ICU, Dr. Pandey, Dr. Pi and the Chaplain team of Frederick Memorial Hospital for their support and dedication to compassionate care.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Evelyn's life journey will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. Rev. John Schildt will officiate.
