Evelyn Marie Crum Bruchey passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at Sheperds Glen Assisted Living. She was the wife of the late George T. Bruchey, Sr.
Born on February 17, 1917 near Mt. Pleasant, to the late Edward H. and Helen I. Droneburg Crum.
Evelyn was a 1935 graduate of Frederick High School. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church since March 1931. Serving as Secretary of the Sunday School from 1933 until 2009 and Charge Treasurer from 1978-2008. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Church Choir and served as the Recording Secretary of the Administrative Council for many years. Evelyn was also a member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary since 1988. She worked as an associate of J.C. Penney for 12 years retiring in 1982 and was also employed at the Drapery Loft for 4 years. Evelyn and her husband lived on a dairy farm for 31 years. She was an accomplished seamstress that enjoyed making clothes, drapes and crafts such as bears and custom dolls.
She is survived by her children Stuart Eugene Bruchey and wife Pat of Mineral Wells, TX, Carole Ann Fouche' of Brewerton, NY, George T. Bruchey, Jr. and wife Joyce of Keymar, Gerald W. Bruchey and wife Joy of Fayetteville, PA, Charles E. Bruchey and wife Linda of Frederick, Sandra J. Deatherage and husband Dennis of Tuscan, AZ and Sharon E. Busch and husband Edward of New Bern, NC; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Edward Lloyd Crum, her sister Mary Elizabeth Spurrier, son-in-law Charles W. Fouche' and grandson Dennis Alan Fouche'.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11 at 10AM. Pastor Lynn Glassbrook will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church c/o Jeannie Cochran, 7477 McKaig Rd., Frederick, MD 21701.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
