Died peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2011 with his wife at his side.
He was born on July 12, 1925 in Old Forge, PA. Evan enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1943 and served on the USS Chambers until 1946. After receiving a business degree from Scranton-Lackawanna Business College in 1948, he came to the Washington , DC area and worked briefly as an accountant before joining Holland Rantos, a pharmaceutical company. Mr. Davis became a partner in Tschiffely Brothers Pharmacy in 1973, and remained there for 10 years. He then worked for the Montgomery County Government at various liquor store locations, retiring in 1997.
He and his wife moved to Frederick in 1997, and in 1998 he began working at the Walmart store on Guilford Drive . From 2005-2006 he was a special education assistant at West Frederick Middle School . He then worked as a greeter at the Walmart store on Monocacy Blvd. until 2007.
Throughout his life he volunteered his time to organizations that included the Cub Scouts, the Boy Scouts, Toastmasters, and the Jaycees. He taught Sunday school for many years at Our Savior Episcopal Church in Hillandale , MD. He was a Mason and a member of American Legion Post 11 in Frederick . He belonged to the FMH Auxiliary and served at the Regional Cancer Therapy Center . He also enjoyed bowling, darts, and golf.
Evan was predeceased by two wives, Marjorie Griffin and Leila Snyder; by his only sibling, Thomas S. Davis; and by his oldest son, Evan H. Davis

He is survived by his wife, Mary O’Neill; his son, John (Jacquelyn Davidson); his daughter, Karen (Paul) Henzey; his stepson John (Candice) Brosnan and their four children; and a large extended family and numerous friends.
