Eva Virginia (Pierce) Knight, 83, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro, Maryland.
Born on November 2, 1931, in Antietam Furnace, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Effie Virginia (Ely) Pierce. Her husband, Arthur Lee Knight, preceded her in death in 1994.
Eva was employed with the Maryland Ribbon Company in Hagerstown for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a Member and Past President of the Potomac Valley Fire Company in Sharpsburg. She was also a member of the Antietam Church of God in Sharpsburg.
Eva is survived by two daughters, Karen E. Knight-Miner and husband Daryl of Boonsboro, and Gina K. Rubeck of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Randall L. Knight, Jr., Tammy E. Horst and husband Arlin, Melissa L. Ward, Lisa A. Trovinger, Denise D. Scadden, Matthew D. Scadden and wife Wilma, and Jennifer K. Kitner; and her long-time friend and companion Eyerly E. Ingram of Boonsboro. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall L. Knight in 2008; two sisters, Elsie Edwards and Mary Anna Pierce; five brothers, Howard, Howell, Charles, Robert, and Cecil Pierce; and one grandson, Christopher Rubeck.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Ernest E. Witmer will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Samples Manor Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
