Eva P. Chaney, 91, of Mt. Airy, MD, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Lorien Center in Mt. Airy. Her loving husband of 43 years, Luther R. Chaney, Jr., died in 1988.

Born May 5, 1924 in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late India J. Dinwoody and Roy M. Albright, Sr.

She was employed as Vice President of General Motors Finance and was to this day considered one of their most treasured employees.

For more than 50 years Mrs. Chaney was a member of the former Hyattsville Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and was active singing in the choir. She was currently a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Mt. Airy. Active in many organizations, Mrs. Chaney helped raise monies for various community projects.

During WWII she helped build war ships in Mississippi with her main purpose to inspect the rivets. Later, in Florida, she ran a kitchen band for the elderly. While her laugh was infectious she used her wit to charm just about anyone touching many, many lives. Mrs. Chaney was a good friend to many, a geography buff and had a knack for solving the puzzles of Wheel of Fortune and completing cross word puzzles.

She is survived by her only child, a daughter, Patricia A. Hillmuth and husband, William, Jr.; her favorite (and only) grandson, William "Boo" Hillmuth, III; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Little Church on the Hill, Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD. Services will begin at noon with the Pastor Dan Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 609 Center Street, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family online at www.staufferfuneralhome.com.
