Eugene Sansone

December 26, 1935 — May 2, 2016

Eugene J. Sansone, 80, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on December 26, 1935, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Paul and Gladys (Horworth) Sansone.

Gene was a graduate from Coolidge High School in Washington, DC.

He had been employed with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, retiring after 35 years.

He was a member of the Improved Order of  Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84 in Williamsport, Maryland.

Gene was a familiar friend to many of his neighbors and fellow residents at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro.  He was often called upon to help transport residents and was even known to cut the grass at Farhney-Keedy and the neighbors farm.  He will be deeply missed by the many fortunate to have called him a friend.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy R. (Diehl) Sansone; one daughter, Susan L. Martin and husband Rick of Boonsboro; one son, Steven P. Sansone and wife Kerry of Point of Rocks, Maryland; two grandchildren, Heather Sgaggero and husband Steve of Clear Spring, Maryland, and Chris Sansone of Tucson, Arizona; two step grandsons, Christopher and Jason Fisher, both of North Carolina; one great grandson, Bennett Sgaggero; and several nieces and one nephew.  He also cherished his special four-legged friend, Skye.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul E. Sansone.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.  A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Twyla D. Rowe officiating.
