Eugene Harold McGaha, 82, of Knoxville, Maryland, stepped into eternity on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of 60 years to Willa Dean (Dockery) McGaha.
Born July 4, 1935, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late George and Katherine McGaha. Gene was a graduate of Brunswick High School, class of 1953. He worked for 41 ½ years at the Brunswick Car Yard until his retirement. He was a devoted longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, formerly Weverton Baptist Church. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather and uncle to all his nieces and nephews, he shared with his family, his love of the outdoors.
In addition to his wife Willa, he is survived by his children, Cynthia, Kenny and Frank McGaha; his grandson, Kyle McGaha and wife Crystal; and two great-grandchildren, Leah and Ellie McGaha. He is also survived by two brothers, Ronald McGaha (Doris) and Earl McGaha (Gloria); and sister-in-law, Pat McGaha.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Myers (Iatrice) and Robert “Bob” McGaha.
The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 110 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD 21716. A Celebration of his life’s journey will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 17, at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Road, Rohrersville, MD 21779. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Locust Valley Bible Church Cemetery.
