Ethel Anderson

January 14, 1923 — April 28, 2014

Mrs. Ethel C. Anderson, 91, of Mt. Airy passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014.   She was the widow of the late James A. Anderson.  After the recent death of her beloved grandson, TJ, Mrs. Anderson  promised that upon her death,  she would deliver a special message to him from his mother.
Mrs. Anderson was born on January 14, 1923, in Baltimore.  She was the daughter of the late Horace and Elizabeth Weigman Hammett.  She had worked for Damascus Electric Company as a bookkeeper for 34 years before retiring.  She was a member of Howard Chapel Ridgeville United Methodist Church.  She lived in Sarasota, Florida, for a number of years before returning to Mt. Airy in 2007.
Surviving relatives of Mrs. Anderson are her children: Jane Browning of Mt. Airy, Betty Fredlund of Sarasota, Florida, and James Anderson of Virginia, and sisters  Carolyn Snapp of Damascus and Frances McDonough of Mt. Airy.   She also has five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her great grandson T. J. Burdette, sister Marie Hammett, and son-in-law Eddie Browning.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at  Howard Chapel Ridgeville United Methodist Church, 1970 Long Corner Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Reverend Franklin Bishop will officiate.
