Eston H. Hoffman

Mr. Eston H. Hoffman, 92, of Frederick, died on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Kline Hospice House. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Crouse Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mildred ( Quinn ) Hoffman.

He was born on December 2, 1914 in West Virginia . Mr. Hoffman was a life-long member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Frederick, where he was active as a Sunday School Teacher and a Lay Leader.

In his younger years he and his first wife Mildred operated an antique shop from their home. He was employed at Ft. Detrick, retiring after 30 years of service.

After his retirement, for 25 years, he along with his sons' and family operated Hoffman's Antique Shop, near New Market. Mr. Hoffman was a member and devoted volunteer of the New Market Grange, he was also very active as a member of his community . In his spare time he enjoyed repairing and refinishing furniture.

Surviving beside his wife are 7 children; Judy Baker and husband Delmar of Hagerstown, Martha Jane Crummitt of Brunswick, Nancy C. Ray of Frederick, Eddie H. Hoffman and wife Rosemary of Stevensville, Doris J. Henry and husband Joseph of Middletown, Pamela L. Burke and husband Rick of Frederick, Darryl W. Hoffman and wife June of New Midway, a step-son Gary Crouse and wife Debbie and their family of Middletown, a step-daughter Cynthia Wyant and her family of Thurmont, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Tuesday, September 4th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with his pastor Rev. Jenny Smith and Rev. Jerry Cline officiating. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his 8 grandsons.
