Esther Irene Kitchen, 76, of 114 Grove Lane, Boonsboro, died Wednesday, July 4th at her home.
Born August 9, 1930 in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Vada Reeder Flook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Kitchen, May 21, 1997.
She was employed by Acme Market for 40 years in Hagerstown and Brunswick, MD.
She was a member of the Washington County Hospital Aux.; Acme Retirees; Thursday Morning Duckpin League; and was membership secretary at Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion.
She was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women, Gadabouts, Adult Choir, Bell Choir; also where she taught adult Sunday school and bible study.
She was a member of the Friends of Reeders and Senior Citizens. She was a 1948 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Kitchen-Hornbecker and husband, Curt of Boonsboro; and brothers and sisters, Gerald Flook of Whitehall, PA, Ronald Flook and wife, Judy of Fairplay, MD, Elvin Flook and wife, Elizabeth, Mary Dorsey and Doris Flook all of Boonsboro; grandchildren, Jennifer Myers, Katy Hornbecker and David and Lacy Hill; great-grandchildren, Damien Storer, Noah Taveras and Ivy Hill; and many, many brothers and sisters in Christ.
She was preceded in death by sister, Velma Scott and brother, Edgar Flook.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7 at Boonsboro Cemetery. A memorial service will be held immediately following graveside services at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Rev. Robert G. Brennan, Jr. will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
