Errol "Butch" Griffith

April 30, 1946 — July 31, 2010

Errol "Butch" L. Griffith, 64, of Keedysville, Maryland, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 outside at his home doing the things that he loved the most.

Born on April 30, 1946 in Hagerstown, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Bowers and his mother Rayetta Marie (Griffith) Bowers.

Mr. Griffith was a veteran of the US Army, serving the 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam.

In earlier years, Butch was employed with the Washington County Roads Department and was a school bus driver for the Washington County Schools.  He retired from the Department of Corrections, State Use Industries where he worked as a Supervisor.

Butch was a member of the Pleasantville Church of God and the American Legion Antietam Post 236 in Sharpsburg, Maryland.

Butch is most remembered for his love of his family, country, cooking, the outdoors and especially spending time in Ocean City.

He is survived by his wife, Linda E. (Hoffman) Griffith; his three children, Tabitha L. and her husband Kurt Resener of Lanesville, Indiana, Darren S. Griffith of Boonsboro, Maryland and Joshua E. Griffith and his wife Darlene of Hagerstown; his five siblings, Darlene Eichelberger of Sharpsburg, Maryland, Ava and her husband Frank Gift of Keedysville, Robert Bowers, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Sharpsburg, Virginia and her husband Donald Wagner of Boonsboro and Rickie Bowers of Hagerstown; and his brother in law Steven Hoffman and his wife Cindy of Boonsboro.  He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, where the family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to assist the family.
