Mr. Ernest Theodore "Butch" Thompson, Sr., 67, of Frederick died Friday, January 31, 2014, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Hester Spencer Thompson, for 42 years.
Born September 19, 1946, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Elsie Thompson and Gus Parker.
Butch worked in the construction field prior to his retirement. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and he especially loved spending time with his family. Butch served in the Armed Forces/ Vietnam veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Jeannie "Mimi" Brown (Roger), Frederick; Derrick Brightful, Hagerstown; Lacy Spencer Kebbeh (Musa) Frederick; Lynn Spencer of Walkersville; and Ernest T. Thompson, Jr. (Tonya), Walkersville; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Roxena Worrell, Frederick, and Mary Ann Thomas, Gaithersburg; special cousin, Margaret Holland, Frederick; Devoted Mother-In-Law, Ms. Fannie Spencer; Sister-in-Law Robin Spencer, Brothers-In-Law Larry Spencer, Sr., and Kim Spencer, and nieces, nephews, cousins and many SPECIAL Friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Daniel, Charles Jr., Elmer; and a sister, Ruthie Thompson.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Staffs of Dr. Riuli, Cardiovascular Specialist of Frederick; Dr. Hudhud, Frederick Cancer Center, and the Hospice team at Frederick Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care given to Butch.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. with funeral services to begin at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 7, 2014, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD., with Bishop Merle Lyles Officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
