Ermine Norma {Midge} Layer

Mrs. Ermine Norma Layer (Midge) 82, formally of Adamstown, was called to be with the Lord on March 19, 2010 at North Hampton HealthCare Center in Frederick.

Born on August 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fulton Thomas and Anna Alberta Weedon.

Ermine was a homemaker and worked at a sewing and canning factory in her earlier years. Ermine later worked at Mar-Lu-Ridge Camp in Jefferson. Ermine loved to bake and plant flowers. She was a member of Buckyestown United Methodist Church where she served as a Trustee and a Communion Stewart. She also was a member of the United Methodist Woman. Ermine enjoyed spending time and holidays with her family.

Ermine was preceded in death by her late husband Addison Layer (October 8th 2008). Ermine was a loving mother to her five children: Grafton Layer (Joyce), Beverly Pannell (Bruce), Warren Ricky Layer (Betty), Karl Layer (Rosalynn) and Camilia Layer-Hopper (Bruce). She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one brother Adolplus Weedon (Marguerite), sister in laws; Mildred Onley and Mary Francis Weedon; brother in law David Layer (Mary). Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother; Godfrey Weedon and two sisters; Gloria Gibson and Veronica Ingram; and grand-daughter, Crystal Rollins.

Services: Celebration of life services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, at 1:00 p.m from the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Viewing will be from 12pm until time of service . Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
