Mrs. Erma Lucille (Allison) Wissinger, 87, of Mt. Airy, MD, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late James R. Wissinger.
Born April 11, 1928 in Ryot, PA she was the daughter of the late Leslie Ray and Gladys Corle Allison.
Erma was a talented musician. She played piano and the organ and directed choirs at different churches throughout her life. Erma was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She also enjoyed knitting and drawing. In her recent years she had become very artistic in doing pen and ink drawings. There were three topics that you could most certainly engage in with Erma, politics, religion and baseball. Erma was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her children JoAnn Lucas and husband D.Clayton of Bendena, KS, Robert Wissinger and wife Donna of Westminster, MD, Bruce Wissinger and wife Carole of Concord, NC and Melissa Ingram and husband Richard of Mt. Airy. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren whom she prayed for everyday.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister Edith, infant brother Paul, sister Vieva Beard and brother James Allison who joined her in heaven just 8 hours prior to her passing.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 6-9PM where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 11AM. Pastor Tom Gue will officiate.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1530 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, PA 15902 on Friday, March 25, at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boys Latin School of MD, 822 West Lake Ave., Baltimore, MD 21210, c/o Boys Latin Center for Military History.
