Mrs. Erma Elizabeth Thompson, 82, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 23rd, 2013.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Edna Bowens.  Erma was born on August 25th, 1931 in Frederick, Maryland.  She attended Frederick County schools.  Erma was a domestic worker who professionally cleaned houses throughout Frederick County until she retired.
Erma was very humble and loved spending time with family and friends.  She enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, going to Charlestown, and “BINGO” was her “THINGO”.
Surviving are her seven sisters: Frances Allen, Adeline Diggs, Peggy Diggs (Charles), Genevieve Price (Robert), Joyce McDonald, Darlene Williams (Patrick), and Cindy Bowens; nine brothers: Charles “Joe” Bowens, Jr., Sherman Bowens, Roger Bowens, James Bowens, Michael Bowens, Carlton Scott (Vanessa), David Bowens, Randy Bowens (Cheryl), and Charles “Butch” Bowens.  Sisters-in-law: Margaret Bowens, Ursula Stewart, Mary Lyles, Dorothy Holland, and Roxena Worrell and Mary Ann Thomas.  Brother-in-law: Ernest Thompson. Two aunts: Maebell Jones and Helen Carr. Devoted nieces and nephews who she cherished as her own children are Carolyn Hebron, Tyeicka Bowens, BJ Morrison, and Lamont Bowens.    Devoted friends are Barbara Neiswander, Diane Hawker, Elsie Miller and all those at Catoctin View/Manor Community.  Erma is also survived by a host of other family and friends who she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her life-long companion William “Grinage” Thompson.  Sisters: Jane Dorsey and Frances Rollins; brothers: Maynard Bowens, Frank Bowens, Milton Bowens, and Cliff Bowens; uncles: William Bowens and James Bowens; devoted nieces: Frances Bowens, Doris Bowens, and Roxanne Diggs; and devoted nephews: Terrance Bowens and Arthur Hebron. She was also preceded in death by Charles Thompson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with Bishop Merle Lyles officiating. The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
