Mr. Eric Lee Baumgartner, 57, of Fairfield, PA, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. He was the husband of Sandra Griffin Baumgartner.
Born on April 15, 1953, in Decatur, Indiana, he was the son of the late Harold and Audrey Andrews Baumgartner.
Eric worked in public safety for Hagerstown Housing Authority for 3 years. He previously worked for Mt. St. Mary’s University and the Frederick City Police for numerous years. He enjoyed traveling, watching movies, reading and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Heather Holtzman and husband David of Leitersburg, MD, Ashley Ball and husband Brian of Frederick, MD and Debra Hockenberry and husband Matthew of Smithsburg, MD; son Cole Kauffman of Fairfield, PA; grandchildren Ethan Baumgartner, Noah Hockenberry, Hunter Holtzman and Padraig Ball; brother Craig Baumgartner and wife Stephanie of New Windsor, MD; sisters Cynthia Baumgartner of Frederick, MD, Nanette Melton and husband Walter of Westminster, MD and Janelle Hotaling and husband Chris of New Windsor, MD; sister-in-law JoAnn Griffin of Frederick, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 PM on Tuesday, March 15, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, March 16, at the IC Chapel on main campus at Mount St. Mary’s University with Father Brian Nolan and Father Jim Donahue officiating. Interment will take place at the Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery.
