Enid Brown

April 16, 1924 — September 1, 2017

Enid May Brown, 93, of Frederick, MD passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Record Street Home in Frederick where she resided for ten years since May 29, 2007.

She was born at Garden Hall, in the Parish of St. Ann in the beautiful Island of Jamaica, on April 16, 1924, to parents Edward and Vivian Brown. She was the first of 11 children seven boys and four girls. She attended the Charlton All-Age School. After school she left St. Ann and moved to Kingston where she worked for several years in the hotel industry. She had one son Winston Grant who also predeceased her in 1998. She migrated to the United States of America in 1990.

Enid was a very kind and loving person, always willing to give a helpful hand. She was a very good cook, loved her native foods. She enjoyed knitting, a skill she used to help others by selling the products and donating money or the products to the Indian reservation, other organizations and her church St. John's Catholic Church in Frederick where she was an active member. Col. Trinka Coster and Col. Gary Gilbert who were assigned to Fort Detrick hired her as a nanny for their son Matthew after moving to Frederick in 1993. She loved Matthew as her own son, every visit to her she would have something to say about Matthew's achievements as if relating about her own child.

Enid became a U.S. Citizen in 1997 and was a very proud one. She enjoyed traveling, visiting places like Canada, England, New York and her native Jamaica. She lived a God blessed life, one she was proud of.

She is survived by two brothers Joseph and Audley, three sisters Ruby, Mary and Anita and many, many nieces and nephews.

Rest in peace Enid you have done your part here on earth now you are in the arms of the Lord. She will be cremated and scattered in the ocean based on her wishes.
