Emory Eugene Rice, 83 of Thurmont, MD died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his home. Born July 3, 1931, in Graceham, MD, he was the son of the late Emory E. and Marie Hoover Rice. He was self employed selling animals, fowl of all types, and rabbits until his death. Emory was extremely proud of his deer and wild animals that he lovingly cared for over many years. He was a member of Thurmont Church of the Brethren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by sisters, Catharine Brandenburg, Elizabeth Bittle, Margaretta Rice, and Jeanette Rice. Mr. Rice is survived by two nephews and five nieces.
Services will be Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Thurmont Church of the Brethren, 14 North Altamont Ave. , Thurmont. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Rachel E. Black, his niece, will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.
