Emory "Buck" Zimmerman

Emory “Buck” Zimmerman, 83, of Lewistown, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Silverado Frederick Memory Care Community in Frederick, MD.  He was the beloved husband of Barbara “Walker” Zimmerman for 63 years.
 
Born on June 4, 1939, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Halfdan Joseph and E. Virginia (Biser) Zimmerman.

For 30 years, Emory worked as a meat cutter for Safeway.  Emory attended Frederick High School.  He was an avid Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Commanders (Redskins) and Maryland Terps fan. Emory was a former member of the Jefferson and Lewistown fire companies, as well as, a former member of the Jefferson Ruritan Club.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, tending to his garden, helping with local butchering events throughout the Frederick community, and collecting antiques.  He always looked forward getting together with his “McDonald’s Gang” friends.
 
Emory is survived by his wife, Barbara “Walker” Zimmerman; his daughter, Cindy (Tim) Hannah of Rohrersville;  his son, Bruce (Sandy) Zimmerman of Walkersville and Grandchildren: Brett (Casey) Zimmerman of Frederick, Emily Zimmerman of Frederick, Loni Hannah of Hagerstown and Tyler Zimmerman of Texas; his brother, Maurice “Skip” Zimmerman & Eleanor Still of West Virginia; his sisters Virginia Glenn of Pennsylvania and Alice (Bob) Miller of Lanham, Maryland; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Emory was preceded in death by his son, Randy Zimmerman; his grandson, Timothy Hannah; his brothers, David “Ted” Zimmerman and Leonard Zimmerman; his brother-in-law, Bill Glenn; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Zimmerman and Barbara Zimmerman.
 
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Jefferson, 3864 Jefferson Pike in Jefferson, MD.
 
A celebration of Emory's life journey will take place at 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Jefferson, 3864 Jefferson Pike in Jefferson, MD. Pastor, Rick Schoenly will officiate.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
