Emma Hicks Zentz, 90, of Spring City, PA, (formerly of Thurmont) passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at Mifflin Center, Shillington, PA. She was the wife of the late Virgil S. Zentz.
Born September 13, 1923 in Winchester, VA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Rinker Hicks.
Emma was a member of the St. John's Evagelical Lutheran Church in Thurmont and served as the church's secretary for over 25 years.
She is survived by her sons Larry Zentz and wife Sandra of PA and Dale Zentz and wife Trevaline of DE, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a sister Darlene Hicks of Emmitsburg. She was preceded in death by a grandson David Zentz and her three brothers Gene, Darrell and Dudley Hicks.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Tuesday, August 19, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, where services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Susan Beck officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Thurmont MD or to the Alzheimers Association.
