Mrs. Emma Copeland Axline, 88, of Brunswick, MD passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010. She was the wife of the late Warren Axline who passed away in 1998.
Born July 21, 1921, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Rose Copeland Barton and James Copeland.
She was a graduate of Brunswick High School Class of 1938 and a graduate of Strayer Business College in Washington, DC.
She worked for 21 years for the Federal Government and retired in 1982 from the National Bureau of Standards in Gaithersburg, MD.
Emma was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved shopping, traveling, cruising, and visiting with family at their vacation home in Florida.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brunswick.
Emma was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Frederick Chapter #79, Daughters of the Nile Re Temple #118 in Cumberland, MD, American Legion Auxiliary #96 in Brunswick, Order of the Eagles #1136 in Brunswick, Women of the Moose #660 in Brunswick,  and the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. #10421 in Brunswick.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Bolen, and husband Jack of Rosemont, MD; two grandchildren, Brian Bolen and wife Karen and Leslie Gum and husband, Jason; a great granddaughter, Lauren Bolen and a great grandson Landon Gum. She will also be remembered by her special friends, Jane Ramey, Wanda Zombro, Blondena Good, Marilyn Barnhouse, Mildred Miller, and Ursula Schneider.  Emma enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast almost daily.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick on Thursday, July 22 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday, July 23, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Brunswick with Pastor Noni Sigler officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
