Ms. Emilia Teresa Aguilar, 85, of Frederick died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born November 20, 1927 in Trujillo, Peru, she was the daughter of the late Cesar Aguilar and Maria Escorza.
In younger years, Emilia was a manager for a shoe store. She loved collecting dolls, and she enjoyed sewing and knitting. She had a jovial spirit and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sister, Ada Aguilar-Veratudela of Frederick; and many nieces and nephews, including her nephew, Dr. Ernesto Torres and his girlfriend, Katherine Buohl, of Frederick, and nieces, Roxana Torres Kahley and her husband, William, of Gaithersburg, and Marisa Veratudela of Frederick and their families. She also will be remembered by her caregiver, Juana Vilches.
Emilia was predeceased by her sister, Herminia Aguilar-Escorza, and her great-nephew, Ernesto A. Torres.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Officiating will be Father Miguel Mateo.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic Church at the above address to benefit the Hispanic community.
