Emelie Lurene Burt, age 71, of N. Main St., Keedysville, MD, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born Nov. 21, 1936 in Myersdale, PA, Emelie was a daughter of the late Oscar and Rhea Horning Burt.
She was a homemaker.
Emelie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church near Boonsboro where she loved going to church and was devoted to the Lord. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law and had many wonderful neighbors and friends.
Emelie is survived by her husband, Larry P. Slack Sr., with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12, 2008; three children, Larry P. Slack Jr. and Rhea K. Slack, both of Keedysville, and Elmer Lee Slack and wife Kim of Gaithersburg, MD; one brother, Harrold L. Burt and wife Bessie of Myersdale, PA; sister-in-law Mary Burt of Hagerstown, MD; five grandchildren, Justin, Carly, Kristina, Kelly and Carrie Slack; and daughter-in-law Connie and daughters Chelsea and Danielle.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Slack, and two brothers, William Burt and Daniel Burt.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, located at the corner of Mt. Carmel Church Road and Rt. 67 near Boonsboro. The Rev. Mark Waldron will officiate. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
