Elwood "Sonny" Runkles
April 24, 1922 — February 17, 2011
Mr. Elwood “Sonny” Francis Runkles, 88 of Mt. Airy, MD., passed away Thursday, February 17, at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown, MD.
Born April 24, 1922 in Woodville, MD., he was the son of Orry F. and Minnie Clay Runkles.
Mr. Runkles was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He worked, in the Mt. Airy area, as a handyman for many years.
He is survived by two nephews, Allen Watkins and wife Daphne of Davis, WV and David Watkins and wife Melissa of Petersburg, WV, and seven great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Carrie E. Watkins and niece Dorothy Bloyer.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, Maryland Tuesday, February 22, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m., where services will be held Wednesday, February 23, at 10:00 am. Interment Prospect Cemetery.
