Elwood E. "Woody" Baxter 93, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday July 21, 2013 at College View Center, Frederick. He was the husband of Billie Bristow Baxter for 64 years.
He was born on February 7, 1920 in Spotsylvania Virginia. He was the son of the late William "Buck" and Dorothy Wheeler Baxter.
Woody attended school in Spotsylvania before moving to Bethesda and was a General Contractor for over twenty five years in Bethesda and Kensington before retiring and moving to Mt. Airy in 1991.
He served in the Maryland National Guard prior to his service in the U. S. Army Air Force as an MP during WWII in the South Pacific.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a niece Geraldine Marklin and family of Bethesda and Charlotte Estep of Hagerstown as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his sisters Eva Edington, Mattie Benedict and Edna Royster.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 24, 2013 from 6-8pm at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD., where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday July 25, 2013 in the Funeral Home chapel, the family will also receive friends one hour prior to services. Pastor Mike Yoho will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville.
