Elvira Roche

Mrs. Elvira M. "Peggy" Roche, 90, of Rockville passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017, at her son's home in Mt. Airy. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward C. Roche who died in 1981.

Born on March 19, 1927 in Farmington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ezma Grieger Martin. After high school Peggy moved to Washington, DC in 1945 where she began her career for the FBI and retired from US Department of the Navy in 1997.

She married the late Edward Roche in 1949, lived in Randolph Hills since 1954, and together they enjoyed spending time with their children and traveling to Kitty Hawk, NC for vacation.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, Sudoku puzzles, and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, very kind heart and compassion of taking care of others.

Surviving are two sons: Edward C. Roche, Jr and wife Kathy of Olney and Michael F. Roche and wife Debbie of Mt. Airy; her only grandson, Christopher Roche of Rockville; she had four siblings including the late Elizabeth "Sissy" Martin; as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 14, at The Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring.
