Mrs. Elva Mae Fogle Lewis, 85 of Frederick, MD., died Thursday, September 24, 2009. She was the wife of the late William Harvey Lewis.

Born July 18, 1924 in Le Gore, MD., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Fitz Fogle.

Mrs. Lewis was the longest living member of the Salvation Army in Frederick County. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her children Julia Anne Summers of Mercersburg, PA, Mary Ellen Nails of Hagerstown, William H. Lewis, Jr. All of Frederick, Betty Jane Bussard of Middletown, Margaret Susan Poole Mann of Gardners, PA and Helen Elizabeth Herbert Heerd of Frederick, twenty three grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, four sisters Mary Elizabeth Fauver of Taneytown, Betty Jane Fogle, Dorothy Hagen and Charlotte Usilton all of Frederick. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Mayetta Grace Williams, two brothers Paul and Alton Fogle and three sisters Alla Grace Fogle, Ruth Ann Fogle and Margaret Oden.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Monday, September 28, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. With Captain Satterlee officiating.

Interment Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery.
