Elsie Crouse

Elsie Elizabeth Crouse, 86, of Thurmont, MD., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013 into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born November 5, 1926 in Foxville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Hurley. She was the loving wife of Merle E. Crouse Sr., her husband of 62 years.
Elsie was an excellent cook and baker having learned to cook the old time way from her mother. She especially enjoyed the family gatherings and reunions. Elsie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Thurmont where she attended faithfully, having many friends. She was also a member of St. John's Social Ministry Committee and the St. John's Women. She was a loyal volunteer of the Thurmont Food Bank.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her son Edward Crouse Jr. and wife Susan of Foxville and daughter Nancy Anderson and husband Jerry of Thurmont. Granddaughter Kate Anderson and fiancé Chad Derexson and grandson Matthew Crouse and wife Crystal. She has four great grandchildren, Kelby Benjamin, Caleb Derexson, Chaslyn Derexson and Joshua Crouse. Elsie is also survived by her identical twin sister Ethel Fitzgerald of Creagerstown. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth and Reva Shuff and brothers Elmer, Floyd and Leaster Hurley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 2, 2013 from 6-9 pm at the Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at the St. John's Lutheran Church, 15 North Church Street, Thurmont. Reverend Susan Beck will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.
The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Catherines in Emmitsburg for their compassion and excellent care of Elsie during her stay there. and also our heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Frederick County for all there kindness, love and wonderful care of Elsie.
