Elmer Allen (Bud) Stone Jr, 87, a lifelong resident of Boonsboro, died at Meritus Medical Center on January 21, 2015.
Born December 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Elmer Allen Stone Sr. and Hattie Mae Keedy Stone.
He was preceded in death by sisters Mary E. Gross and Pauline L. Ewald and longtime friend Shirley Meetre.
He was a fourth generation farmer, of which he was extremely proud, taking over the Stone Farms from his father.
He was a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Elmer was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers. He was a former director of the Boonsboro Bank and a member of the advisory board of the Hagerstown Trust Company. He was a member of the Antietam Lodge #197 of the Loyal Order of the Masons since 1950.
Elmer is survived by two sons, Elmer Allen Stone III of Hagerstown and Eugene Andrew Stone of Boonsboro; one daughter Elizabeth Ann Stone of Boonsboro; four granddaughters, Stephanie Sowers Stamper of Boonsboro, Andrea Stone of Frederick , Ashley Stone Bewley of Texas and Katelyn Stone of Hagerstown; one grandson Ryan Stone of Virginia ; three great grandsons, Caleb Stamper of Boonsboro, Ryan Bewley of Texas and Jordan Itnyre of Hagerstown; three great-granddaughters, Emily Stamper of Boonsboro, Olivia Bewley of Texas and Kendalyn Stone of Hagerstown; one niece, Patty Funk Myers of Hagerstown and one great niece, Rebecca Jo Myers Rice of Hagerstown.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro on Monday January 26, 2015 at 10 am. The Rev. Ray Roberson will officiate. Burial will be in the Boonsboro Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 4 to 6 pm at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
