Elmer Richard Titman, 91, of Thurmont, passed away on Tuesday, April 30 at Frederick Health Hospital. He was the husband of 67 years to Nancy Jane Fair Titman. Born on May 6, 1932, in Walkersville, he was the son of the late Clyde Arthur Titman and Elsie Viola Quick Titman.
He served in the Army during the Korean War in the 1st Cavalry Division for 2 years and 6 years in the reserves. Mr. Titman worked for Moore Business Forms in Thurmont for 40 years and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a past member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, the mountains and his grandchildren. Elmer was a kind, caring and beautiful soul, and he loved the outdoors and his cats
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Dennis Robert Titman, Susan Denise Holmes and husband Steve and Jeremy David Titman; 5 grand-daughters, Brittney Shutta (Jeremiah), Katlin Holmes (Max), Ashlynn Holmes, Valerie Holmes and Elaine Turner (Matt), 4 great-grandchildren, Landon Shutta and Trevor Shutta Connor Turner and Madelyn Turner and a sister Ruth May. He also leaves behind many other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David Eugene Titman and his brothers, Raymond T. Titman and Norman A. Titman; sisters, Betty L. Titman and Nellie V. Quick.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 1 to 2 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visiting hour at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home, Pastor Mark Claiborne will officiate. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lewistown United Methodist Church.
